Camp - Wednesday

Wednesday is hump day we are halfway there.

Today is the time all the new scouts plus Eric, Stephen, Julian, Ryan and Shawn went on their Wilderness Survival merit badge overnight.

The boys get to bring their 10 essentials and only their clothes. They build a shelter for warmth and protection for the night to sleep in the woods near camp. Yes they spend the night all by themselves to know that they can survive. It's a nice night with cloud cover so should be great!

We thought we should share some photos of the parents at camp. Without their help, vacation time from work, patience and humor the week would never have been possible.

Now the older boys left in camp get to play CTF (Capture the Flag) with another troop.


What another wonderful day!

Now we get to be the last troop on the beach with a campfire We always close down the beach those fireside stories, jokes and fun will last forever.

Camp - Venture Crew Update

Camp - Tuesday

Tonight's theme is what can you do when you are camped on the ocean. Let's see.........

You can decide to hang with your buddies.

If you are Venture you can decide to head to Pacific City and surf the waves


You try for hours to hang ten on your cool boards. Those wetsuits are great!

You can decide to hone your ninja warrior skills.


You can build a real cool sand castle.


You can pack your guitar and play a tune for passing tourists.

You can build a sand angel.


Or dam a stream.


Or fly a kite.


Or watch the green flash with your friends.


Most of all you can have a great time together with your troop Now it is time to open packages from home. Even FedEx like "Wilson".


The boys have something they would like to say to you!

But best of all you can build a huge bonfire on the beach and decide to sleep the night on the sand.


Isn't camping on the Pacific Ocean great!

Camp - Monday

What a first full day of camp. We started with a first. The Venture Crew was first to flags! Now it is 1-1 with the scouts winning on Sunday.

Now it was off to merit badges with over 200 total, a new troop record, and most boys going for 4 or more badges. The Crew went crabbing for our troop special dinner. Two full coolers of crabs.


We had great luck with Erik and Colter both natural fisherman.

It was then back to camp with our haul to learn how to clean and cook a crab. All joined in after Erik gave taught us the ropes.

Then it was off to the races. Colter, Sean, Eric, Quinn, Ty, and Jake, our JV and Varsity triathlon team got first place in the 1st heat and they get to race in the finals on Friday. Our paddlers Colter and Eric were strong.


Now it's time to play on the beach as the sun sets. Cool but dry. Sand castles, cub (a new game), surf chasing and just plain fun.

Camp - Scouting is Singing

One of the best things about Scouting is the singing. Today's theme was how much fun can you have when you sing. Singing before dinner.

Singing after dinner. Boy can the 70 camp counselors sing. This is the oldest camp west of the Mississippi rich with tradition.

Now it's time to play a little Midnight Mafia. Alex is leading. Who will figure out that Mik, Tyler Powers and Jeremy are the mafia. I think the mafia will win tonight.



See you late tomorrow. Venture goes crabbing and the rest hit merit badges for the first day. Almost 200 total badges. Wow.

Camp - Sunday

We are all setup at camp. Finished our swim tests, medical check and tour. Is this boot camp ready to ship out?

You are looking at our view from camp. Spent the morning on the beach. Sun is shining and we all are playing games.

Kelly taught us some new beach games. The Venture Crew is beating everyone including Kelly.

WiFi service is slowwww. Will have to download pictures to website from town. Get 3G service at low tide at ankle depth.

Mark your family calendars for summer camp 2011. August 14-20 at Camp Parsons on Hood Canal. With Philmont in July we are going later next year to Hood Canal for camp.
