Silver Star Day 1 - The Lunch Bunch

After a great morning on the hill we decided to get some lunch. Some are skiing, some are boarding and the SPL has some funny mini-skis (which we'll have to show you later). The temp is low, the snow is great and spirits are high.

No favorite runs just yet - the boys say that they're just enjoying going "down". Ok, nachos are arriving. Time to recharge for some afternoon skiing. More to come!

Arrived at Silver Star!

After a long trip from Snoqualmie to Vernon, BC we are now all here and checked in to the SameSun lodge. The boys have unloaded their stuff and made a temporary home of their rooms at the lodge. We're planning an early rise, a light breakfast and first tracks in the morning. As we came in, new snow fell down and we felt the anticipation of the upcoming day.

That said, now it is time to hit the hay. We'll be posting our daily happenings here, so pay attention if you want updates on how we're doing!

Ben Earns Eagle Scout

Our newest Eagle Scout has landed! Ben Luna went through his board of review with flying colors and has achieved the rank of Eagle scout. Ben has been a longstandding leader in our troop and we are excited to see him reach this milestone in his scouting career. Congrats Ben! Next step is the BSA Silver Beaver!

Alpine Lakes Backpacking Day 3 - Almost to the Trailhead

The boys are making great time and we're enjoying the hike down. Great views of waterfalls all down the path. We're past the switchbacks and almost to the end of our journey. We've been told there are trail treats at the end, so we're looking forward to our finish!

Alpine Lakes Backpacking Day 2 - Lake Melakwa

We arrived at the lake for lunch and set up camp. Some fished, some swam and others slept. After a short while Maggie, Lazer and Mr Brooks joined the group for a great dinner. Like at home, veggies were not a popular option with the noodles. We wrapped up with a fun game of mafia and settled down for stargazing.

The night was colder than last, waking up with some frost, but everyone made it through. After some hearty breakfast we are heading down to the pass. See you soon!

Alpine Lakes Backpacking Day 1 - Pratt Lake

It was a great first day for the group headed to Pratt Lake. After working on our mapping skills we headed to the lake. The trail was in great shape and had been recently maintained. The slog up was tough, but the group stayed together and made it to the top. Heading down to Pratt Lake was quite a sight. The campsite was right on the lake so the boys fished and enjoyed the water until dark. We wrapped up the night with some midnight mafia - citizens won!

At morning we awoke to a seranade of wildlife which sounded like an interstellar battle of lazerguns. With breakfast behind us we are headed to Melakwa Lake. Stay tuned for updates...
